Why use Habitat?

Today, many communities use a variety of tools and products to communicate and do things together. Often, groups use some amalgamation of Slack, Google Drive, Eventbrite, Luma, Signal, and other products. However, many of these tools are built for specific customers, often enterprises, and their features and pricing reflects those priorities. Habitat provides infrastructure for communities to build applications that are attuned to their unique needs and can enable communities to diminish and eliminate their reliance on Big Tech platforms. Habitat can be deployed in a variety of ways depending on what works best for a given community: from fully managed hosting to managed hosting deployed into a cloud provider of choice to fully self-hosted.
